Back to School: Start-Rites Toughest Ever School Shoes

It only seems like a few weeks ago I was buying everything from Athena’s uniform list for starting primary school, and suddenly here we are a just over a year later (because I am not half as organised this year as last!) checking what fits and re-purchasing things she’s outgrown. The list of things that need replacing is long… her trousers (though she’s told me she doesn’t want to wear these this year and stick with skirts and dresses) all her P.E Kit, most of her white Polo shirts as they’re stained with board marker and pasta sauce splodges and of course, her shoes. Athena went through four pairs of shoes in Reception year, two were completely ruined beyond any more wear, one was a pair of Dr Martens boots she…

What Athena Wore in Bluebell Woods

It’s finally bluebell season! Last Saturday we took a late afternoon stroll around the bluebells in Angmering Park estate. It’s always an a stunning sight to behold, and each year they never fail to amaze me with their colours, and Athena has a new dress and necklace that she was more than happy to show off!   Her dress is from La Coqueta, a Spanish company who make children’s clothes up to age ten, in classic styles and patterns. They’re proper little people clothes, with classic timeless designs and I love everything! There are no outrageous colours, naff characters or skimpy styles, instead you have subtle lace, frills and gorgeous fabrics to choose from. Athena picked the Allamanda dress, which is lined Summer dress made from 100% cotton. A bib…

Dressing up with Vegaoo

When Athena started preschool I was quite pleased to find out that things like World Book Day, where you have to come dressed as a character from your favourite book wasn’t really a big thing however now she’s started at school I’m feeling the pressure slightly! Next week on Thursday the 1st of March the school have asked all the children to come in dressed up as a character from  their favourite book. It is optional but I don’t think Athena would want to be the one child sat in their school uniform when everybody else is dressed up!  I obviously wanted Athena to enjoy picking her character and deciding who to go as, but I also want her to feel comfortable and able to learn in her costume too, plus…

Starting School: School Uniform Tips & Picks

The time has come, I need to start thinking about school uniform for my little school starter! I don’t want to leave it till the last minute and risk not being able to find what we need and I also want to give Athena time to practise getting dressed and undressed herself to make sure she can manage! I’ve been browsing online for a few weeks now to find some nice uniform that is both practical and smart and have come up with a few options… In fact I plan to buy most of these as I’d like to have one set of uniform per day she needs it, in case of tears/paint splodges/dirt and so I won’t have to do an extra mid week wash! I think a selection…

What the Kids Wore: Jackets & Hoodies

Arlo is at the height where a lot of his 18-24 month clothes are too small, but his age 2-3 sized things swamp him. It’s so frustrating that brands can’t just match sizing across the board as some things in 2-3 are okay and other brands he’s still got lots of life left in the 18-24 sized! Anyway, I have been enjoying sorting out his new wardrobe, I bought a lot of it from Zara in the post-Christmas sales and also got a few bundles from ebay for childminder days and messy days. Zara leggings and joggers are so much more fun than jeans, plus I think they must be pretty restricting too. He also fits his new personalised hoody from PrezzyBox, it’s lined with a soft fleece and isn’t…

What the kids wore: Bobux Shoes

I love choosing shoes for my kids, although actually Athena chooses most of her shoes now as she’s suddenly got very into choosing what she wears and what she likes the look of. Bobux is a brand that I am quietly confident that I will like anything she chooses from their ranges! Unlike high-street shoe shops full of sparkles and character and often not made to withstand active kids wearing them Bobux shoes are designed to be run, jumped and hurtled about in whilst protecting delicate developing feet. Super lightweight and flexible soles mean there is as little restriction to growing feet as possible, and each stage is designed to fit the foot perfectly as it grows. Both Athena and Arlo have had shoes from Bobux before (check out these…

Twinning is Winning

Athena loves shoes, and wellies even more so. Those of you who have followed me on instagram might remember her sporting a fetching pair of yellow wellies last year, but sadly due to the ever-growing nature of toddler feet they’re far too small now! But don’t worry, they fit Arlo now! Crocs sprung to the rescue though and sent her a brand new pair so they could match! What I love about the crocs wellies is that they are SO lightweight! None of the normally clomping about in heavy wellies with an chunky heel and that annoying bagginess round the legs. These are also easy to pull on with their handles! Available in a few different colours too, these are fully waterproof and have no risk of splitting like normal…
