Travel: 5 things to do in Lewes

When people come to East Sussex, they often go straight to Brighton. It’s well known and there’s lots to do what with the beaches, museums and the sea life centre to name a few attractions. But just 15 miles, approximately 20 minutes up the road, is Lewes. A historic town with a bustling high street full of cafes, antique shops, and more pubs than you can shake a pint glass at – and that’s not even including the Brewery! I love Lewes – it’s so pretty, and because it’s a little closer…

Travel: A Weekend Camping in the New Forest

We went on our first family camping trip last weekend, taking advantage of the extra day of the bank holiday weekend, we left early on Saturday and got back Monday evening. For our first trip I think 2 nights was just right and maybe next time we’ll book three nights! You might remember a little video I shared a few weeks back of us attempting to put the tent up that Millets sent us for our weekend away in under ten minutes, well I am pleased to say that tent…

Camping with Millets #WeDoSummer

I said not that long ago that glamping was how I preferred to camp  although admittedly I’ve only been once, compared to a whole three times in my life in a ‘proper tent’ Basically I’m a camping newbie and the lovely people at Millets thought they’d see if they could change my mind about traditional camping and sent us a tent, sleeping bags, folding chairs and a great care box so that as a family we can go camping over the summer and see if we can be converted! Now…

Travel: 6 things to do in Mauritius with kids

Mauritius is a place that has been on my ‘to visit’ list since a girl I used to go to school with showed some photos from her holiday there at ‘show and tell’, gorgeous beaches, sun, amazing animals and lots of places to explore. Its an Island I would love to spend time on, though with two kids it would be less of a beach holiday for us as they’d get bored of that after a day or two I reckon, so although the beaches look glorious I’ve put together…

Travel: Explorer Glamping at Chessington

Last weekend we had our first experience of Glamping. I can say hands down that glamping beats regular camping by a mile and if I ever have the option between camping and glamping I’ll be choosing the latter. Make it ‘Explorer Glamping’ and it’ll be even better, perfect for adventurous little ones (and big ones too!)

My Favourite Road Trip

I love driving, although like most people long motorway journeys can be a bit of a killer. But its a chance to listen to music without too much distraction and the flexibility of being able to stop wherever I fancy is the best part. Although long journeys are often punctuated with a toddler asking if we’re there yet! The summer that Sam and I got engaged in 2011 we took a pretty epic road trip that took us from Brighton, to the Peak district, Manchester then on to the Lake…

Planner or Panster?

Some people are planners – they love to get everything in place, safe and secure, before they even contemplate starting on the next step. And some people are Pantsers – literally, they ‘fly by the seat of their pants’ as the Americans say, they’re impulsive, and plans mean nothing to them. For a lot of the time, these two types of people live entirely different lives – one a little more cautious, one a little more spontaneous … but one thing they have in common is the love of a good…

Travel: Keeping a toddler happy on a plane

Flying with one child should be relatively easy, on a short haul flight anyway. Travelling with a toddler, a baby and an over excited husband is probably another thing all together! I wanted to make our short flights as easy as possible, short of sitting on my own with Arlo and leaving Sam to entertain Athena, there are a few things I’ve put together to make the airport/flight and subsequent mini bus transfers as fun as possible for Athena and as stress free as possible for us!

Travel: Deep Nature Spa- Avoriaz France

Whilst we were away in France I had a break from the kids and the thick snow proof layers and booked a spa morning in Avoriaz. Myself and the other three ladies left the kids with their daddies and headed to the Deep Nature Spa. We went on our penultimate day so we could really make the most of our relaxation morning.

A Swiss Christmas #ExpediaWorldOnAPlate

I’m always interested in learning about how other countries do things, and as Christmas is such a special time of the year it makes it even more fun to learn about how it’s done elsewhere. Expedia recently challenged me to pick a country and make a traditional Christmas Meal, and seeing as we’re flying into Switzerland in January I thought it would be nice to see what they get up to! So after perusing a few different websites I came to the conclusion their traditional Christmas meal is either Turkey…

Family Travel plans for 2016

Next year will be our first full year as a family of four, and will hopefully be the year we move into our first home that we own rather than rent. For that reason we really do need to think carefully about our travel plans so that they don’t get too out of hand and bankrupt us! We already have a holiday booked and paid for at the end of January, we’ll be spending a week in the French Alps in Morzine. We’re flying out to Switzerland then travelling into France…
