Festive Gift Ideas for Kids

Ahh, kids at Christmas – there’s nothing lovelier than seeing their happy faces as they open their gifts, and it makes all the anguish over what to get them worth it! This endless struggles over which items to leave off their list (we’re not made of money!) and the inevitable panic when they suddenly tell Santa on a visit to see him a week before Christmas that the one thing that they REALLLLLY want is something they’ve neither mentioned and that you’ve never heard of till now! Last year they both sprung on us that they wanted a Bubble Fairy and a Bubble Car respectively – thank goodness for Amazon Prime! I’ve put together this gift guide to give you some inspiration on smaller gifts, either for your own kids…

Toys: PJ Masks Super Moon Rocket & HQ Toys

If you have kids in primary school, or younger then you’ll probably be very familiar with the PJ Masks! It’s a kids cartoon featuring three 6-year-olds,  Amaya, Connor, and Greg/ They are neighbours and friends who go to school together. But at night then turn into Catboy, Owlette and Gekko, and create a little crime fighting team called the PJ Masks, with superhero powers (which is why my two love this so much I think!)  Each episode follows a little story where they solve problems, fight crime and have fun, but there’s always a moral lesson to be learnt! The latest episodes are all based round a Super Moon Adventure, and my two little PJ Masks fans were lucky enough to be sent the new Mission Control HQ playset, the…

Family Games Night with Little Tikes Crazy games

We had our first proper family games night at the weekend, and it was so much fun! Arlo at three and a half isn’t quoite old enough for games with too many rules or games where you have to wait a long time between turns – he simply gets too impatient! Little Tikes sent us a family games night box with two perfect games in, both are fast paced, fun and really interactive! We stuck some music on, played games for an hour and a half whilst scoffing popcorn, then ordered pizza and all watched a film together afterwards and it was lovely, the kids were up late but as it was a weekend it didn’t matter! Crazy Blender is a super fun game, that teaches kids about matching, memory…

Toys: Kekilou Collectable Dolls

Athena is definitely a stereotypical ‘girly girl’ and although she loves to play trains and cars with her brother and will climb on any tree or wall she sees, she really really loves the colour pink, wants to wear makeup and loves a frilly dress. It was for that reason that knew she would love the Kekilou range of toys, and when a box full of them arrived and her little face broke into the biggest smile I knew I was right! In fact Arlo also got involved, has claimed a few dolls for himself and has loved ‘applying’ (in the loosest sense of the word!) the makeup too. These collectable dolls are all inspired by magical transformations, fashion and surprises – so right up most little girls’ street! There…

Iconic Sleich Animals from George at Asda

Arlo loves dinosaurs, and if you watched my Instagram stories this morning you would have seen him making his new T Rex eat a load of farm animals – sorry about that if you were eating your breakfast! Schleich are the world renowned maker of realistic animals, from farm animals to Dinosaurs and even make believe creatures too, like Mermaids and Unicorns! Now you can pick Schleich animals up from George at Asda online! Arlo was sent the Tyrannosaurus Rex, and loves it so much he took it to the child-minders this morning, even though he had to walk instead of scoot so he could carry it! He’s been asking me questions about it, like “why is the top of his mouth bumpy” and “what are these claws for?” –…

Getting Arty with the smART Sketcher Projector!

At the moment Athena is definitely more ‘arty’ than she is scholarly, although I know that may change as she gets older! At the moment if you give her a choice of practising reading or doing something with colours and paper she’ll always choose the latter. The smART Sketcher has made her even more keen on drawing now as she is able to draw absolutely anything she wants without frustration! It’s a clever projector that hooks up to an app on your phone, and it has a few different ways to use it: Step by Step Drawing This function lets you choose from lots of different pictures, from animals to transport and lots in between, and starts with simple line drawings that Athena traces over, presses the next button to…

Toys: Hape Space City Marble Run

Arlo has always loved marble runs, first obsessing over one at a friends house so much that I ordered one to arrive the next day. Now though he’s got the creme de la creme of marble runs to play with: the Space City from Hape. Not only can it be built in lots of different ways but it glows in the dark too! From an ethical point of view I love it because it’s mostly made of wood, so not only will it last a lot longer but it’s far more eco-friendly than ones made entirely of plastic, and hopefully we will be able to save it to pass on to future generations as it will still be in one piece after being played with loads! Sam and I opened…
