Stuff on a Sunday – Dear Zoo & Delicious

I’ve really got nothing to say about the past week, its only saving grace was Saturday. We had a gorgeous family day out at Amberley Museum (we have season tickets so we go a lot but we really do love it there) and it was so warm that we ate outside for the first time this year! I lost a working day this week due to sickness meaning the childminder had to close her setting, so have been working every evening till quite late. I also covered two extra shifts at work so I feel like I’m a bit behind with blog stuff but I’m too tired! This is the only photo I took on my phone today, unflattering of me but a rare one if Sam and I together!…

Stuff on a Sunday – Slimming World, Tiredness & Friends

We were back in a normal routine this week after a week away, getting back on Sunday evening, flinging a mountain of clothes in the machine and frantically trying to find lunch boxes and pre-school jumpers! We had spent most of Sunday at our friends house in Norwich before we drove home. They have two children close in age to our two and although they don’t see each other very often they seemed to get on okay after a few teething problems, which is a relief as we’re all off on holiday together in May! We also had friends over yesterday for a play and lunch in the morning, and then went to the park and met a preschool friend in the afternoon! I’m loving the slightly less bitterly cold…

Stuff on a Sunday – Norfolk, Family & Friends

At the start of the week I had a lovely little break away with Donna, we both had a massage, a delicious dinner and a really good nights sleep at a lovely hotel called Needham House. The massage I had was the nicest I have ever had, the masseuse never broke contact throughout my back massage at all, she moved around the bed as if by magic and I only knew where she was by peering through the whole to spy where her feet were! I felt truly relaxed, and the ESPA facial was the icing on the cake! The grounds of Needham were lovely, we had a little walk but it started to drizzle so we headed back inside to let our breakfast digest and got on with some…

Stuff on a Sunday – Colds, Croup & Working

This week has been non stop. Sam did a couple of ‘AFD’ shifts at work (which in hospitality speak means ‘all f*cking day’ 7am – 11pm) and stayed over too to save time driving home cutting into his sleeping time. That of course meant that I had a week of all bedtimes, which would be fine if both kids went to bed easily, but Arlo doesn’t. It can take him up to two hours to get to sleep, and I normally end up falling asleep at the same time and then waking up groggy and taking a while to wake up again to start getting on with work in the evenings! In his defence this week he’s been pretty ill, a bad cold, some new teeth coming in at the…

Stuff on a Sunday – More Birthdays and haircuts

I wish I could say this week was jam packed with excitement but I’d be lying if I did so I won’t. It was Sam’s 29th birthday yesterday so that was a nice day, we went out for dinner together in the evening whilst my mum babysat, second time since having Arlo but the first time didn’t count as it as for a works party. We got the train to Hove so neither of us had to drive and had a thoroughly nice time! Earlier in the week I got to catch up with some lovely bloggy pals Lyndsay, Laura, Aine and Holly, I’d been at Lyndsays filming a video and then they all came over for biscuits and chats afterwards which was fun and far better than working which…

Stuff on a Sunday – Rain & 15 Years

This week has been wet, dreary and dull. There is not one redeeming factor that springs to mind. Not one. It seems like it was a never ending cycle of: tired, work, pre-school run, child minder pick up, make dinner, get annoyed nobody is eating dinner, put Arlo to bed, wait two hours for him to fall asleep, try and work, fall asleep myself. Oh, actually there is one redeeming factor, I got given a bunch of flowers at work (at the hotel, not work from home work, because nobody gives me flowers here) for being with the company for 15 years. YEP, FIFTEEN WHOLE YEARS. I started as a barmaid when I was 18 and have been a Pub manager, Head chef and Hotel manager over the years, working…

Stuff on a Sunday – Birthdays & Fat Lips

This week was my Birthday week! I turned 33 on Tuesday! I still don’t really feel like an adult though (will I ever?) but it was fumy looking back through my timehop app and seeing birthdays from the past 10 years! Most of them were spent out of the country in fact, France last year, Prague, Germany, South Africa… I used to always try and be out of the country for my birthday as I thought if I celebrated it somewhere different that it didn’t really happen! Birthdays in your 30’s are a bit naff anyway really, I got some lovely cards and some vouchers and money that I think I am going to put towards a little portable laptop. This year I spent it away from home,
