Sunday Scrapbook: Half Term, Mister Maker & Baking

Our half term break has been lovely, I’ve loved having Athena around more even if it’s meant that I’ve had to work every evening to replace the days I would have been working but it was worth it! We had a couple of little naps together, and I even managed to put both kids to bed for a nap in the day a record three times! I mean I paid for it when Arlo spent hours trying not to go to sleep in the evenings but hey ho! Monday saw us head off to Drusillas for Shriek week with our best friends. The kids all hurtled around looking at animals, playing in the huge soft play area and generally having a good time! Arlo loved the Hello Kitty car ride,…

Sunday Scrapbook – Trains & Trees & Six Weeks of School done!

This last week has been a testing one – but we survived! I got back from my holiday last weekend and it quickly felt like a) I’d never been away and b) I needed another holiday to recover from being back to the daily grind. But we survived! It was the last week of the first half of the school term for Athena, which means we are now enjoying our half term break! To celebrate the end of school we headed to the Firework display at a local junior school, the kids scoffed popcorn and gawped at the fireworks, they seem to love it so we’re going to try and go to a couple more over the next couple of weeks too. We battled the rain and the winds yesterday…

Sunday Scrapbook – New Videos & Eyes

So a brief post as I’m currently on holiday, and spent the last week either writhing in agony with my poor eyes or attempting to get everything sorted for going away (and going away without the kids and husband is more stressful I think as was trying to prep them for a week without me!) Anyway the stress and a cold made my blimming eyes flare up so I eventually went to see an optician who said “Well it’ll never go away, Blepharitis is a chronic condition” so that’s great. A lifetime of washing my eyes out and using drops, awesome. I mean I am fully aware there are far nastier chronic conditions to live with but gritty eyes that you can’t stop rubbing is pretty shit. Plus I look…

Sunday Scrapbook – Cool Cars & Eyebrows

Last weekend we spent the day strolling around Horsham for ‘AmeriCARna’ which was actually a lot of fun! Horsham is a pretty sweet little town, neither of us had been there before! It was packed full of gorgeous huge old american cars, bikes and trucks and the kids loved it, as did we actually! Some of the american cars are HUGE, I would have a nightmare trying to parallel park them!   After a lunch of waffle-on-a-stick (the kids, plus some actual healthy food) and a bloody delicious Hog Roast (us) we had a quick walk around the woods but poor Athena is still so tired from adjusting to school so we didn’t last too long! The rest of the week flew by in a blur of rain, school runs,…

Sunday Scrapbook on a Monday

The last couple of weeks have been a whirlwind, so I didn’t manage a Sunday Scrapbook last week and this one is a day late… almost two! So Athena is now at school, she’s loving it though has turned into a little moody-madam at times! She starts full days as of Thursday this week, with her first ‘school dinner’ experience on Wednesday. If you could all send positive vibes that a) she actually eats the food they offer her and b) she doesn’t drop tomato sauce down her brand new cardigan/white polo shirt that’d be ace! The weather has been so naff, sun, wind and rain all in the space of twenty minutes, normally timed for the school run too. Joyful! Anyway, it’s nice to have a semblance of routine…

Sunday Scrapbook – Fast weeks & Zippos Circus

Yet another week of the holidays has flown by. The days seem longer than normal but the weeks shorter, which is a little odd right? Anyway we’re entering the final full week of the summer holidays, hurrah! Last week was a fairly quiet one for us, with a lot of dull life/house admin on the to do list. We now have a fancy ladder that pulls down out of the loft so we don’t need two people to get up there any more (though that means I have no excuse for not sorting it all out now) and we have also booked a new front door and a very boring valve replacement on our radiators. I also printed off monthly calendars till the end of the year with all the…

An Interview with Athena & Arlo

I sat the kids down and asked them these questions, writing down exactly what they said… What’s the best thing about being 4 (and 2)? Athena: I am going to be this tall and start school. I’m going to *names school* and am going to be in Butterfly class Arlo: I’m Big! What makes you laugh? Athena: Arlo when he rolls around and pretends to be a baby Arlo: you make me laugh (cheers, I think?) Who do you love and why?
