Sunday Scrapbook – Fast weeks & Zippos Circus

Yet another week of the holidays has flown by. The days seem longer than normal but the weeks shorter, which is a little odd right? Anyway we’re entering the final full week of the summer holidays, hurrah! Last week was a fairly quiet one for us, with a lot of dull life/house admin on the to do list. We now have a fancy ladder that pulls down out of the loft so we don’t need two people to get up there any more (though that means I have no excuse for not sorting it all out now) and we have also booked a new front door and a very boring valve replacement on our radiators. I also printed off monthly calendars till the end of the year with all the…

An Interview with Athena & Arlo

I sat the kids down and asked them these questions, writing down exactly what they said… What’s the best thing about being 4 (and 2)? Athena: I am going to be this tall and start school. I’m going to *names school* and am going to be in Butterfly class Arlo: I’m Big! What makes you laugh? Athena: Arlo when he rolls around and pretends to be a baby Arlo: you make me laugh (cheers, I think?) Who do you love and why?

Sunday Scrapbook: The Dorset, Brighton & Storage wars

Hello! Long time no see, or it feels like it anyway! I didn’t do a Sunday Scrapbook post last week as there wasn’t a great deal to report that I wasn’t already writing about and I just sort of fancied a week off! We went to Wakehurst with my mum last weekend for her birthday and had a few days away in Oxford and I shared that here. This past week seems to have flown by, the summer holidays are over half way over now though I can’t say i’m too annoyed about that as I want to settle in to the new normal of school runs and routines. Talking of routines its suddenly dawned on me that the lack of wardrobes in the kids room (and ours!) means that…

Sunday Scrapbook – Long days & sandy Beaches

I left off last week still in Norfolk, and we stayed there till Tuesday. My MIL, her partner and the kids great aunt and uncle took them out to a village fair for the day on Sunday, Athena rode a donkey for the first time and they all had a lot of fun from what I can gather! I caught up on a load of work and had some time to myself – bliss! On Monday we took the kids to Mundesley beach in the morning, which is very picturesque and most importantly is a proper sandy beach, unlike our local ones here! The had a great time building sandcastles and then flattening them immediately! In the afternoon we had lunch with their Aunty E then headed off to meet…

Sunday Scrapbook – Long Drives, New Cars & Norfolk

I’m so pleased to be starting a Sunday Scrapbook off with positive vibes for once, first time in three weeks! This past week has been generally lovely in fact. It’s been the first full week of our Summer holidays, though Arlo had one last day with the ‘old’ childminder on Tuesday. We’ll all miss her, and the 2 minute walk to her house! But she’s moving away, so sad! Anyway we had a nice day out with our friends on Monday, though having two cafe trips out with four kids four and under is always ‘fun’ to deal with! Both my kids are in a bit of a mountain goat stage at the moment and aren’t happy to just sit in their seats like any normal person, they have to…

Sunday Scrapbook – Lavender, Broken Cars & Afternoon Tea

Third crappy week on the trot, do I get a prize yet? Life just seems to be throwing one thing after another at us but hey ho! This week it was the car breaking down on the M23 with a bootful of IKEA shopping and both kids and a friend  on board! I lost power steering and all the dashboard lights lit up. I managed to crawl into the services as I didn’t want to be stuck on the hard shoulder. RAC eventually arrived, took one look and said it wasn’t fixable so we then had to wait ages for a low loader truck to arrive to tow us home, finally arriving home at gone 9pm. Arlo bloody loved it though, he was so excited to be on a truck!…

Sunday Scrapbook – Another Shitty week

I really wanted to be sitting down to write about what a wonderful week we had, with less injuries than last week but alas, it was not to be! I’ll start with the good bits: I spent a lovely day with Donna swinging through the trees at Go Ape, followed by a delicious dinner and a lovely drive home across the Downs with the sun setting as I drove and an audio book. I also had a lovely day with Arlo on Friday, he’s normally a bit tricky to keep entertained and happy when he’s on his own but he was a delight! I even managed a work phone call with him happily playing with his trains and not getting irate and throwing things about! I tired the kids out…
