Sunday Scrapbook – London, Vapiano + Beach trips

I’ve had a genuinely lovely week, lots of family time, time with friends and a bit of shopping too – which always helps! Last Saturday we had Athenas best friends birthday party at soft play, so the kids pretty much entertained themselves whilst we chatted! After that I headed into Brighton for the evening with a group of friends who I’ve not seen in years, literally years! We spent the evening and night catching up, swapping stories and generally having a bit of a drunken time! We’ve all moved around a bit and it was a nice walk down memory lane, although there were a few noticeable absences as people are living abroad and things! Sadly I had to head home before the trains stopped running, but that did mean…

Sunday Scrapbook: The one where we’re all sick

I feel like our Easter holiday was a bit of a washout, it’s simultaneously flown by and also dragged its heels. Arlo turned three on Easter Saturday, but that was also the same day he started throwing up, and he’s only just stopped two weeks later. Long story short (and I’m bored of sharing it!) but he is one of a largish handful (14 or so reported when I last saw the newspaper) of people that picked up a parasitic bug called cryptosporidium from a petting farm. It meant he had V&D for almost two weeks, and although he kept pretty cheerful throughout he was definitely not himself and it would have been a much nicer birthday/week in wales on holiday/ Easter hols had he not been sick! We didn’t…

Sunday Scrapbook – Bowling Caterpillars

Every time I’m feeling a bit down between now and forever I am going to look at this photo! I know I am biased but my word they’re cute! We were sent these Very Hungry Caterpillar costumes in advance of world book day (you can buy them from TU at Sainsbury’s and online) and I LOVE them! They’ve got removable bots of fruit and the kids have had great fun chasing each other round the house trying to stick them on each other, or steal them off each other’s costumes! Perfect for world book day coming up on the 1st March!   We went bowling this week (which is always more stressful than I remember, as I simultaneously need to: Stop Arlo from getting his fingers squashed between the balls…

Sunday Scrapbook – Steam Trains and Castles

I’ve got the lurgy (aka a cold, I just like to be dramatic) so it’s a short post from me as it’s almost 8pm and therefore time for bed! This past week was half term for us here down south, though we do have another day off tomorrow for an ‘insect’ day as Athena and most of her classmates call it. Sam turned 30 last weekend, and we celebrated by heading to Kent for a night in a hotel, where Sam’s mum met us too. We spent his birthday on a steam train which took us to meet some PJ Masks characters (which was a huge it with the kids) PLUS it snowed a bit! On Monday we spent a lovely day at Leeds Castle, which I’ve not been to…

Sunday Scrapbook – A week apart and a bit of snow

Hurrah! The slowest week ever has ended, Sams home from snowboarding and it’s his birthday today! I’m typing this from the car as we’re on our way to Kent for the night, Sam’s mum is meeting us in Tunbridge Wells, we’ve booked a train trip with characters from PJ Masks later as a surprise for the kids then we’re heading to a castle tomorrow for a day out. Sam’s shifts mean he’s not at home every morning and evening like a ‘9-5’ worker would be so I spend a lot of time with the kids on my own anyway, as sometimes his shift patterns mean he doesn’t see them for 48 hours even though he’s been home. For some reason though a week of him not being home at all…

Sunday Scrapbook – Theatre, Good Doctors & Oils

I thought I’d join back in with #LittleLoves again, mainly because having categories to write about will help by sleep deprived brain. Arlo has a cold so has been waking up a lot in the night and then getting up pre 6am most mornings too! I also braved Brighton on a Saturday with both kids and no buggy for Arlo, who is a bit of a runner. We made it out unscathed though, even through the crowd control at the station and onto a train home! I published two posts about my stunning Scotland trip this week, which already seems like so far away… the first is about our idyllic Log Cabin and surroundings, and the second is about visiting Loch Ness! Read I finished Perfect Remains by Helen Fields, which…

Sunday Scrapbook – Feeling Festive & Panto!

We’ve been properly getting into the swing of Christmassy this week! We put up our tree, made mince tarts, went to a panto and did some Christmas crafts! Aren’t these little Christmas trees cute? They’re so easy to make too! Vision Direct have made a downloadable template and you just need to cut out two tree shapes per tree and get decorating! I cut round my tree shapes, placed them on my cardboard box and then cut them out, for each pair of trees I cut a slit in the top of one tree and the bottom of the other so they can easily be slotted together to make a tree! To decorate the trees we used metallic pens in various green shades to use as a base, then used stickers,…
