Athena & Arlo – March 2017

I think both Athena & Arlo have been going through some sort of vast developmental leap, and Arlo has also been pretty miserable due to his back molars starting to break through. There have been wonderful windows of peace, laughter and cuddles but also a lot of the time they’ve both been tearful, tired and not particularly fun to be around. There was one disastrous rainy day last week where we only managed to get to the supermarket because of various other things happening and they both cried and wailed all the way round. They both demanded to sit in the trolley, then fought like cat and dog once in it then refused to walk once we took them out. I had to give them a banana each to shut…

Athena & Arlo – February 2017

Athena has really been embracing her role as ‘Sister’ over the last few weeks. Often she’ll say she has do to do something because ‘I am the sister’. When we get home she will now take off Arlo’s coat, hat and shoes and the best part is that he is so happy for her to do it! He plonks himself down on the bottom step of the stairs and holds his feet out saying ‘shoes, shoes!’ until she takes them off! It really is the most lovely thing. I took these photos on a little day out we took last week, just to a local old fogey bowling green with a little park and a cafe too. We had a (stressful for me probably not for them) lunch and a little…

Athena & Arlo – January 2017

Having almost a month off our normal weekly routines and spending so much time together has done wonders for these two. Of course there are the normal bickers and spats but in general all is smooth sailing with Big A and Little A! There are even some evenings where I can prepare dinner on my own in the kitchen without having to go and break up a tussle over a toy or the best side of the sofa!

Athena & Arlo – December 2016

The two tiny terrors are reigning supreme this month. They are as thick as thieves, with shenanigans such as: Climbing shelves in the living room to get to my nail varnish (Arlo) then opening the bottles (Athena) and using them to decorate their hands, their table and the floor (thank god we were having the carpet replaced anyway!) Opening a pack of Lebkuchen biscuits and smushing them into the sofa together Basically flinging all the bath water out of the bath and all over me and the floor Getting in the fridge (Athena) and getting out yoghurts for them to enjoy (aka get everywhere) when I am in the shower There’s probably more too but I’ve blocked it out! In a way I am super glad that they seems to…

Athena & Arlo – November 2016

Ahh, don’t they look angelic? Well mostly they have been apart from the odd lack of nap induced outburst of emotion. Arlo has had a cold for the last two weeks, including a couple of croupy nights and then a couple of days of a sick bug where he threw up in the buggy twice and once projectile style over me and the living room, whilst walking in a circle, cheers kid. Athena is generally very caring towards him when he is feeling poorly, but can still be a little rough without meaning to.

Athena & Arlo – October 2016

Well this months siblings post has come around super fast, September having one less day than most months apparently makes all the difference! In terms of the relationship between the big A and little A this month I would have to say that they are getting on a lot better! Thank heavens. Now that Athena spends three days a week at preschool she says she misses Arlo, and if he’s not with me when I pick her up she asks where he is. When she got to the childminders last Tuesday to pick him up as soon as Ali the childminder opened the door Arlo came hurtling towards her, they hugged and she told him she had missed him and that she loves him! Ali and I were both ‘ahhhhhhhh’ing…

Athena & Arlo – September 2016

We’re away on our holidays at the moment and I didn’t get a post pre written so I was hoping that we’d have a couple of nice opportunities for some siblings photos whilst we were away! In terms of their relationship this month Athena is being generally a lot nicer to Arlo, wanting to give him a cuddle before she goes to sleep and often asking when he will start sleeping in her room. When Sam took Arlo to a settling in session at the new childminders it was Athena who shed the most tears as she realised he was staying there for a while! She soon got over it though, but it is nice to see the two of them play so nicely together at the moment before the…
