Athena & Arlo – January 2018

Well, the first two weeks of the year shot past didn’t they! The first ‘Siblings’ post of the year crept up on me and left me pretty unprepared! For all the video footage i’ve been taking I’ve managed not to take a single nice photo of the kids together on their own so far this year, so for January we have a rather hastily snapped photo on the way home from School on Thursday. I was so worried that one of the other parents trekking through the graveyard would think I was a weirdo (as if they would even care!) and the kids were not in a stand and pose mood (are they ever?!) BUT I actually love this first photo… it sums their afternoon-mood up perfectly! About five minutes…

Athena & Arlo – December 2017

It’s been a huge fail on the ‘get a nice set of siblings photos’ this month, so this is a collection of photos from our weekend away last week and two are phone photos so awful quality! Anyway, these two are still close as ever, welcoming each other after school with hugs and sometimes if Arlo is in the buggy Athena and he hold hands, which makes pushing the blimming thing tricky! When Arlo hurts himself Athena will give him a cuddle or stroke his hair, which is so lovely. Of course there are still lots of little bickerings happening, as there are with any siblings I’m sure! They do seem to be quite entertaining to other people too, like when they’re chasing pigeons and seagulls in parks, or at…

Athena & Arlo – November 2017

The dynamic between these two hasn’t changed a lot in the past month if I’m honest, they’re still thick as thieves. From first thing in the morning when they arrive in our bedroom clutching their blankets and a variety of cuddly toys to last thing at night when Athena signs a lullaby to Arlo. It goes like this: Arlo Barlow, Arlo Barlow, Goodnight and sweet dreams, You are clever, you are special You are my best friennnnnnnnnd It is SUPER CUTE. This photo was taken at Beaulieu a few weeks ago, it’s a not a great photo of them but just love Athena’s profile and remember her helping him clamber up onto the ledge to look out of the window at the abbey ruins.   These two were taken on Monday…

Athena & Arlo in October

Isn’t it odd that only a few days away from your kids can highlight just how fast they grow and change? After just under a week away Athena seemed taller and more confident (though hard to believe she could get any more confident) and Arlo was chatting more and called me Lauren instead of Mummy! They’re still as thick as thieves, and I think they may even be bickering less than they were before I went away! Athena is still loving school, and Arlo often tells me he wants to go too! We went on a pine cone, acorn and conker expedition yesterday as Athena has to take some bits into her Forest School next week, so we headed up to the Slindon Pumpkin shop to get some Pumpkins, then…

Athena & Arlo – September 2017

This months picture had to be a starting school one really! Plus with the whole starting school thing we’ve not really been anywhere too exciting to take more thrilling photos! This was Athena’s ‘first day’ photo, with Arlo alongside her. In all honesty not a lot has changed between these two over the past month, they’re still thick as thieves one moment and mortal enemies the next! Arlo still very much idolises his sister most of the time, though his childminder pointed out that he is far more independent on days when Athena isn’t with him, which was interesting! Now she’s started school full time she won’t be there to cramp his style anymore anyway! His vocabulary has come on leaps and bounds too recently which means we can all…

Athena & Arlo – August 2017

Arlo loves Athena. She is more or less the only person he will listen to, often I have to get her to ask him to do something to get it to happen. They’re mostly the best of friends with a few little tiffs here and there, which are easily forgotten. He really looks up to her, idolises her even! But doesn’t she know it… she’ll often be found setting up some trap for Arlo to fall into so it looks like he was the one that tipped all the toys out/unravelled the loo roll/ threw the remote control down the stairs. If I ask a question that starts ‘who…’ she’ll quip back with ‘Arlo did it’ as quick as you like! Often the question was going to be ‘who want’s…

Athena & Arlo- July 17

Fighting like cats and dogs pretty much describes these two at the moment. Not all the time, but a lot of it. There has even been a bit of blood drawn, though I think that was an accident. The latest thing seems to be arguments over who is sat on me, or closest to me. Neither of them will show me any attention until one gets close enough for me to ask for a cuddle or a kiss, then the other one will appear as if by magic, lashing out to get onto my lap. I often find myself pinned between the two of them in the middle of the sofa unable to reach my tea, in the middle of a brutal turf war. I shouldn’t complain really but boy…
