Athena & Arlo – November 2018

It’s a short post from me today, as it’s already a day late and I’m also feeling pretty crappy so haven’t got the energy to write much! Plus if I’m honest the kids relationship is still very much love/hate as it always is. Of course always a lot more love than hate but this morning Arlo threw a book at Athenas head and then whipped her with a boomerang – all before seven in the morning! They were in their room so I didn’t see the first one happen but they do love to wind each other up! Anyway, these photos were taken a couple of days ago as I seem have mysteriously not taken many outdoor photos in the past month other than a couple of blurry ones of…

Athena & Arlo – September 2018

Both the kids are at school (or preschool/childminders) now five days a week again and I must say I am enjoying having time to sort the house out, work and have five minutes peace now and then! The holidays shot by and we actually only made it to the local park once, the day before Athena went back to school! But the kids always love posing on the ‘chair tree’! And the obligatory ‘first day back at school even though it was the fourth because I forgot’ photo… I always love a beach-snap but it’s not often we’re on Brighton beach as the sun goes down, but we had a little explore for ‘special stones’ after seeing Paw Patrol live last weekend at the Brighton Centre! The kids have the…

Athena & Arlo – August 2018

A couple of days overdue and with no ‘proper’ photos, just a selection of my favourite photos of these two tinkers together over the last month! And together they have been, though not always in perfect harmony! Now that they’re both in school/preschool five days a week it really shows in their behaviour when they are together 24/7 as they really start to rub each other up the wrong way at times and I often feel like a referee rather than a mum! But that being said there have been some super-lovely moments when they’ve been playing in the ‘secret room’ (aka under the bunk beds) and have also played mums and dads and various other make believe games quite sweetly. They loved playing out in the garden and paddling…

Athena & Arlo – July 2018

I took these photos at Scotney Castle last weekend when we were camping near by, it was such a gorgeous weekend and the kids were thoroughly enjoying being outside and exploring, more pictures here! The ground of Scotney Castle have two castles, one is more of a stately home and this one which is the ruins of an ancient castle. Guess which one they loved more? They were a little disconcerted by the overly friendly geese here, but thankfully the geese wandered off when they realised we had no food for them and the kids could jump off the wall and carry on exploring! They’re still thick as thieves, with the odd argument chucked in to keep us on our toes. Athena has been incredibly supportive of Arlo when he…

Athena & Arlo in June 2018

Another month of closeness from these two. It does make me wish a little that I had a sibling to be so close to growing up! These photos were taken right at the start of the month during half term and they’re only from my phone as my camera was off being repaired but I love them just the same! Athena has taken to doing a ‘pose’ every time I point a camera at her (one hip out, arm cocked at her side, you know the type!) but she and Arlo was just messing about in the New Forest for these so I managed to capture them being normal! Well, as normal as they ever are! Still thick as thieves for the majority of the time they’re often causing mischief…

Athena & Arlo – May 2018

As thick as thieves these two! ‘Aunty Carla’ came to visit this week (she’s not an actual aunt, but an honorary one!) and asked Arlo who the best Mummy in the world was, and his answer? ‘Thena’!!! Well thanks kiddo! But it’s true, Athena does mother him quite a lot, and heeds his bidding a lot even though we tell her not to! She’s often finding him a specific book, drawing something he’s demanded or helping him put his socks on… it’s sweet but she can be a bit of a pushover! I did catch the following conversation though at the weekend Arlo: Thena get that fluffy sock for me! [they were both on the top bunk, the sock was on the floor] Athena: Well, Arlo I think sometimes you…

Athena & Arlo – April 2018

I took these pictures on our holiday in Wales in the first week of the holidays, I love the first one in particular as I think it shows the kids at their most ‘normal’. Arlo is clearly thinking about how he can get away from the posed picture and Athena is paying no attention at all and is more interested in the quiz she was given by the nice National Trust lady to complete. Everything is about to change for Arlo as he starts Preschool tomorrow, he’ll be going three days a week from 8.30-2.30 and then will be going to the childminder for the other two days, which means no more ‘Mummy and Arlo’ days in the week- something Athena will be pleased with as she was always a…
