The Buggy Chronicles: Silver Cross Pioneer Review

Both Arlo and Athena have been riding in style recently in the Silver Cross Pioneer. I’m sure you’ve heard of Silver Cross, they’ve been making prams since 1877, although they look a little different to how they did then! Both Sam and I travelled in style in Silver Cross buggies when we were younger, and in fact both our mums were pretty excited to be able to push one again all these years later! When this gorgeous set of wheels arrived a few weeks before Arlo’s due date I was too…

Quack Quack Splash Splash – Ambi Ambassador

Because we were away last week on holiday and not posting much I’ve not yet shared that we’ve been chosen to be Ambi Toys Ambassadors! I say we, but really it’s Arlo and Athena who will be putting toys through their paces! You can meet the rest of the Ambi Toys ambassadors here. Ambi is a new range of toys from Galt designed to suit babies from birth upwards. I love their classic designs and bright and bold colours. The toys are designed to help little minds discover the world…

Alternative uses for Muslins

One of the not as obvious reasons that having a new baby is ace is the fact that you’ll have muslins to hand at all times. Now everyone knows the more normal uses for them: burp cloth, mopping up baby sick, make-shift bibs and light blankets but there are plenty more uses! In the last five weeks this is what else I’ve used my Muslins for: To catch Athenas runny nose & to blow mine when out and about without tissues To drape over feeding/sleeping baby to stop the crumbs from…

Everyday Us – Ordinary Moments

Last weekend we bathed the babies together for the first time. Arlo was three weeks old and hadn’t had a ‘proper’ bath in the tub and seeing as Athena was about to have a bath and he was happy and full of milk we decided to give it a go! So perhaps this was more than an ‘ordinary’ moment but I know that in the months to come a joint bath will very much be the norm for us so wanted to capture the first time on camera! Athena is…

Two under two, it’s not that hard…

… apart from when it is really sodding difficult! The first month with two under two went something like this…   Week One: Glorious. Those new baby hazy days… snuggles, feeding, having a toddler who is excited by the new baby and a husband who is on paternity leave and who prepares two cooked meals a day for us. No baby-blues (didn’t get them last time) and a weird feeling of utter joy when I look at my expanded family. Week Two: Fairly glorious still… the new baby excitement is…

#WhatMyKidDid – Arlo at 1 month

It’s hard to believe this little squodge is a month old! He’s certainly grown because he’s just started fitting into 0-3 month clothes as opposed to new born! He still seems like a tiny baby to me though, especially as the clothes are all baggy round the middle again! He got a cold (cheers nursery germs via Athena) when he was about ten old and it’s only just on the way out now! It wasn’t horrific but he was a snuffly little thing for a good few days so we…

Baby Loves: Fisher Price Mobile

The Fisher Price 3-in-1 Projection Mobile has been lulling us all to sleep recently… well the three of us who sleep in the same bedroom anyway! The mobile is designed to grow with your baby from birth upwards, it’s a motorised mobile that has 3 audio modes, a light projector than can be removed and used on its own, plus it can be used as a pram toy with a clever attachment that you can clip on to the hood of your stroller. The three audio modes last for 30…

My Teething tips and tricks

We have had a glorious hiatus from teething and all associated symptoms for a good few months now as Athena seemed to get her teeth fairly early on and we’re now just waiting on her last set of molars to appear to give her her full complement of twenty gnashers. Of course knowing my luck Arlo will start to teeth around the same time that these molars arrive! Athena actually didn’t suffer too much when her teeth arrived to start with, in fact her first two bottom teeth appeared with…

My 1st Years – The Royal collection

With the Royal baby due any day now if you’re looking for a gift for new arrival that’s due soon then something with a Royal twist would be ideal! Everything below is from My 1st Years, home of the personalised baby gift! I absolutely love their range of gifts, and there is definitely something to suit every taste and budget!  I love the soldier print PJs and the rocking chair the best, but I also think a personalised book of fairy tales would be perfect too! You can customise everything here,…

Baby Loves: Swaddle Up from Cheeky Rascals

We never swaddled Athena because I thought she didn’t like it. Maybe she didn’t, but in all honesty in my first-time-parent panic I probably didn’t do it tight enough for fear of hurting her or she cried momentarily so I thought she hated it and I gave up. I was therefore a little sceptical when Cheeky Rascals sent me the Swaddle Up to try out with Arlo but it’s actually such a useful product to have! Amazingly Arlo loves to be swaddled, he sleeps for longer stretches when he is…

What my toddler eats… and a plea for help!

We’re having some food related issues at the moment, partly Athena being fussy and partly me being uninspired and not knowing what I can cook/prepare to encourage her to try new things that she might like! She has a good appetite but only for certain things, and she has a really sweet tooth! I freely admit to using packaged microwave meals for toddlers every so often over the last few months when I was too tired and pregnant to cook something ‘proper’ for her, but now I am not I…

A Natural Caesarean section birth story

Arlo’s Birth story – A natural Caesarean section. You can read why I chose to have a 2nd C section here.  After having our original C-section date postponed by four days (the longest days of my life, seemingly) we arrived at hospital at 7am only to be sat waiting until half past eight to be taken onto the ward to be prepared! The midwife double checked that I had taken the anti sickness tablets, the antacids and had been nil by mouth since the night before. I was then fitted…
