Blog takeover: 7 baby items that need to be invented – Run out of Womb

Lying on the freezing floor at 3am, ‘demonstrating’ to my definitely-not-hungry, just-needs-to-shut-his-eyes baby how to go to sleep, I wonder how much it would cost to buy a life-size, warm, “breathing” model of me… Because as soon as I try to silently creep out of the room, tiny man realises, turns over, gives me a hard stare.. and starts to cry.

Babywearing: Visiting a Sling Library (Blogtakeover)

So you’ve heard about slings and babywearing, and fancy giving it a bash. ‘OK’ you think, ‘off to mothercare we go’ and you trot off in search of a sling, only to be overwhelmed by a confusing selection of uncomfortable looking contraptions and untrained sales staff. If you’re lucky, you might come away with one of the ergonomic carriers they stock, but if you’re not, you’ll end up with something that is uncomfortable for you and baby that puts you off babywearing forever. Or you might see a friend rocking a great looking sling, get one yourself, and then wonder why the hell you can’t get it to work while your friend trots around town hands free!

Baby Loves: Cosatto Waffle Highchair

We started the weaning journey with Arlo around the time he turned six months, and have been doing it the ‘baby led weaning‘ way. To make Arlo’s introduction to food as fun as possible those lovely people at Cosatto sent us the incredibly funky Waffle Highchair in Pitter Patter pattern! What is it: A chair to take you from baby to teenagerdom, it will fit a child of around age 12 with no problem! It’s mostly wooden frame has a height adjustable seat and footrest, so it will really grow with Arlo, in fact I’ve already had to move the seat down a level as his thighs are so chunky! What I love about Waffle: It folds flat so can be stored easily when not in use. This is ideal…

Baby Loves: Whisbear

It’s no secret Arlo doesn’t sleep through the night yet. It isn’t a huge problem really as he sleeps in a cot attached to my bed or in my bed so when he wakes up I just breastfeed him back to sleep and often I fall asleep before he does. However it would be lovely if he could sleep a little longer in the evenings as at the moment he sleeps anywhere from 7 or 8 for a couple of hours or less and I need to go in and feed/settle him which can take up to an hour, and often happens just after I’ve got in the bath or have started on my to do list. He’s old enough now at almost 8 months that I know it’s probably…

#spreadingthelove with From Babies with Love

From Babies with Love is a brand that donates 100% of its profits to help support orphaned and abandoned children. It was founded by a mother, Cecilia Crossley who was out shopping for clothes for her son and got thinking about how she could help the welfare of children who need it around the world. The new range is made from organic cotton and has hand finished appliques and top quality screen printing. There are organic baby clothes such as T-shirts, hats, sleepsuits and blankets and they all feature the vintage post card in the various animal designs, to signify the profits being ‘posted’ off around the world! Excitingly Arlo has been asked to be an ambassador for this exciting company so we’ll be sharing some outfits soon, and I’ve another post coming…

Boobs glorious Boobs! 6 months of breastfeeding

So I have been breastfeeding Arlo for  very nearly six months now. In a way it seems a little silly to go shouting about it, as it’s a natural thing and only a few hundred years ago or less there was no other option and all mums fed their babies (or employed a wet nurse!) for probably much longer! But on the other hand it IS something to be proud of! Arlo has grown from 7lb 13 to a nice a chunky 19lb plus! He has more rolls than a bakers shop and that’s all down to my boobs! On top of that it isn’t easy exclusively breastfeeding a baby when you have an active toddler to look after too! And when I say exclusively I mean it, the little…

Baby Loves: Ted and Tess Pram String

Arlo has some new travelling buddies for trips out in the buggy! The Ted & Tess Pram String from Ambi Toys has been accompanying us and Arlo loves to play with the little bears! There are five coloured bears on an elastic with two plastic rings at either end to attach it to your buggy, car seat or cot. In fact it tends to be on the cot more than the buggy for us as that way it will actually get played with as Arlo is in a sling so much of the time! It’s a wonderful way to keep him entertained in the mornings whilst I get up and dressed before taking him into the living room. I just sit him up in front of them and he grabs…
