How to: Baby Massage with Little Butterfly Organic

Why massage your baby? It promotes good circulation, can help with wind any belly problems, soothes and relaxed and produces happy hormones! Most importantly it’s a lovely excuse for some proper one to one time with you and your baby! It’s a great way for you both to unwind and as great to use as part of a bedtime routine. What you’ll need: A naked baby! Quiet time (preferably not with a toddler or other kids running around) Soothing music (for us it’s normally just radio 3) A couple of…

Baby Loves: SnuzPod cosleeper

Meet the SnuzPod. It’s a bedside crib that has three functions; Co sleeper attached to the parents bed, a stand alone crib, and as a bassinet that can be moved from room to room as required. We currently use it as a co sleeper, the level of the cot mattress is level with our own, and the side is drawn down for easy access. The Snuzpod was a godsend in those early weeks after a C-section as I didn’t have to lift him in and out of something with sides…

Review: Joie Steadi Rear facing Car Seat

The Joie Steadi car seat enables your most precious of cargo to travel rear-facing until around four years old (up to 18Kg). In light of recent iSize regulations coming into place that state a child must be rear facing until 15 months as a minimum (more info here) this will be something that a lot of parents will need to think about! Athena has been using her new car seat for a couple of weeks now in rear facing mode. Previously she was in a car seat facing forwards, but…

Big girl beds and stairgates

“Don’t lift anything heavier than your baby” they told me after my C section.”that includes your toddler”. Oh. So the decision to take the side off Athenas cot was made rather hastily after Arlo arrived home. We didn’t want to do it all of a sudden though in case it was too much change all at once, what with having to share her life with a tiny new wailing baby! Athena had slept a couple of nights in a blow up ready bed that we reviewed over on the World’s…

Sleep Pod sun shade from Cheeky Rascals

Unless you’ve been living under a rock recently you may be aware we’re in the middle of a heatwave! As someone who carries Arlo in a sling 90% of the time this has meant that we both get sticky and I get paranoid about him getting sunburnt! So this week he’s spent more time in the buggy than ever before I think! Thankfully whichever direction we walk in and however hot it is I’ve been able to keep him cool and shaded by using the Sleep Pod made by Outlook…

Making Baby Bouquets with M&S

So what do you buy for a new baby? The vast majority of us go for clothes but how do you make your present memorable? Make the clothes look like a bouquet of flowers of course! Now there are many people out there who are a lot more crafty than I, and a quick look on pinterest shows that my attempt is firmly on the bottom end of craftiness scale, but hey I tried! You need: some baby clothes! I used a baby starter set from M&S Baby Shop that included…

New to the UK: Chicco Nappies

Although I am a lover of cloth nappies there are times when disposables are much easier, like long car journeys, days when my mum has Athena and Arlo is in disposables overnight still too. Chicco asked if we were interested in putting their brand new to the UK nappies to the test on both babies bottoms and I agreed! We’ve not settled on a favourite disposable nappy brand, and tend to get whatever is on offer although I tend to steer clear from supermarket own brands as found they can…

Baby loves: Swoon Up from Babymoov

We’ve been using the Swoon Up since Arlo was 4 weeks old, although it can be used from birth. He’s now 11 weeks old and we’ve just taken out the newborn cushion as he was out growing it at a rate of knots! It will last him until 9Kgs.     The Swoon Up is different from other baby chairs and bouncers on the market as it has two height positions, and rotates 360 degrees! We mainly use it in the top position, as it brings Arlo up to…

Cloth Nappies from birth – the first months!

Arlo has now outgrown his Totsbots Teenyfit nappies so I thought I’d write an update on how we’re getting on with our cloth bum journey! Teenyfits are smaller versions of the Easy Fits and they’re designed to fit from 5lbs to around 12lbs, and adorably cute! Arlo wore his first cloth nappy at a day old, in the hospital. It was the gorgeous birthday print Teenyfit that Tots Bots very kindly sent us to celebrate his arrival! I must admit that it was another 4 or 5 days until I…

What my kids wore: Zippy Suit

Before Arlo arrived this lovely little sleepsuit arrived for him from Zippysuit, but I had to wait a little while for him to grow into it, but now it well and truly fits and I love it! The obvious difference between this and a regular sleepsuit is the zip, it runs up one leg to the neck, which makes taking it on and off a doddle, and so fast which is important during middle-of-the-night nappy changes! If I take my time during night time changes his decibels get loud…

WaterBabies – Arlo’s first lessons

Arlo has had two swimming lessons with Water Babies under his belt now, so I wanted to write about our first impressions. Before our course started we were sent an info pack that detailed absolutely everything we needed to know, from where to go (with detailed instructions) and even tips on getting everyone changed successfully! Hint: wrap baby in a towel, get dressed yourself then baby is magically dry and easier to change! Anyway, I read through the details and then turned to the Water Babies Story, a book that…

Baby Loves: Fisher Price Swing and Seat

Arlo has been chilling in style since the day he arrived home in a Fisher Price Take Along Swing & Seat chair, which is great to use as a chair for daytime naps (if I can persuade him to nap on his own rather than on me!) and perfect as a swing to keep him happy when I am playing with Athena or making dinner! It’s cleverly designed to be as portable as possible as it folds up fairly compactly and doesn’t require any power source as it is battery…
