Review: Dream Tubes for safer sleep

A few weeks back we put Athena and Arlo into the same bedroom in bunk beds, with Arlo in the bottom bunk of course! We did have a bed rail set up originally, then Hippy Chick asked if we wanted to try out Dream Tubes to help the transition from cotbed to bunk beds. They’re so easy to use, you blow up the two tubes and then zip them into the the spaces for them in the fitted sheet. the zipper is covered with a fold down flap so it can’t catch on clothes or skin. The Dream Tubes then act to stop Arlo from rolling out of the side of his bed! In fact they stop him from hitting himself on the other side of the bed too, as…

Broodiness, Bonding and Brand New Babies

A couple of weeks ago I had a the pleasure of having a proper natter about all things newborn with my friend Lyndsay. We met through blogging before I had my children and she’s just had a baby of her own, though she was pregnant when we got together. I don’t think there are any more babies on the horizon for me, as my youngest approaches his second birthday and all the challenges that toddler-hood brings (the terrible twos and potty training, anyone?) it was so nice to sit and chat about those first few weeks of having a new baby, and all the associated ups and downs! You can read more about her IVF journey on her blog, Fizzy Peaches. Talking to Lyndsay, and other first time mums it…

Here are some things you should know…

Sam the Lamb Sleep Clock

Athena used to sleep in till around 8am but for about four or five months now she’s been getting up between 6am and 6.30am. When she wakes up she comes bounding into our room and more often than not wakes Arlo up, and once he’s up there is no getting him back to sleep! When we were offered a Sam the Lamb sleep trainer clock I said yes right away, anything to gain back a precious hour of the day for glorious sleep! To be honest I don’t mind if Athena stays in her room and plays or flicks through a book for the extra time as she gets plenty of sleep as she has about 11 hours overnight and a two hour nap in the day time most days. The idea…

The Buggy Chronicles: Lascal Buggyboard Maxi Plus with Saddle

We are already firm fans of the Lascal Buggy Board and used it on our single buggy instead of bothering with an unwieldy double buggy. I found that even though Athena wasn’t two when Arlo arrived with the buggy board, sling and pushchair I could manage every situation, even if they both wanted a nap as one could sleep in the sling! Athena very rarely uses the buggy now as she’s normally scooting, but I can see her getting really tired after a full day at preschool when she starts in September and wanting to go in the buggy! She does sometimes demand to go in when tired even if Arlo is already in it however she is over the maximum weight limit for most pushchairs now and is also…

What to Look for When Choosing a Nursery for Your Child

If you have recently become a new parent, then it can be somewhat hard to believe that your little one will one day be old enough to head off to nursery. It is one of the most important choices that a parent can make for their child, yet a lot of us are completely unprepared when it comes to making a decision. It can be difficult to know whether a nursery is right for you and your child and we are left having to rely on our own instincts when it comes to making a decision. I am sure that you can only imagine how difficult it must be to leave your child in the hands of a complete stranger for the very first time! However, there are various questions…

Totsbots Easyfit Star meets Joules! #JoulesXTotsBots

It’s not often that two of your favourite brands join up and collaborate, and even less likely when one of those brands is TotsBots, who make the nappies that grace my boy’s bottom daily! However it has happened, TotsBots have joined forces with Joules, that quintessentially british brand to create a new print for their EasyfitStar nappy range and it doesn’t disappoint!
