In which I go to a Christmas Party (outfit & face of the day)

My Works xmas do was on Monday & as I worked at 8am the next day (unlike a few other people who didn’t even make it in!) I didn’t have a huge amount to drink (alcohol doesn’t really agree with me anyway!) and was in bed by 1am! Still felt rough at getting up time but it could’ve been worse! The evening was fairly eventful, bitch fights, someone who went home wasted before we even got the secret santa out of the way, a concussion and A&E visit, people revealing a bit too much of themselves (not I for once!)  & lots of people drunkenly sucking up to me and telling me I am the best boss ever blah blah blah, I hope they cringed when they woke up in…

In which I go to Brick Lane

After the excitement of Saturdays blogger meet up, you’d think I’d do my normal Sunday routine, which consists of tea, the sofa and the boy if we’re both off work together. I sometimes stretch to a stroll or lunch out, but recently its been so cold that I’m hibernating.  Sunday just gone I met the beautiful Ayden, and her friend Katrina, who were down from Scotland for a little getaway. We had literally 45 minutes for a quick pot of tea before I power walked to the train station to catch a train to London, with my (also Scottish!) friend Yasmin.   I took them to the lovely little cafe called Inspiration in Gardner street,in the  North Laine area. They had been out on the town the night before, and looked…

In which I go shopping & snooping (Outfit)

Snakeskin print skirt – Primarni Boots – George @ asda (detail in this post) Black long sleeve layered top – Topshop (last year) Scarf – Brightons North Laine sunday market Warning, if you buy this skirt check the elastic in the waist band out! Mine was obviously dodgily stitched and came apart after the first wear, I was going to take it back and exchange it but for £4 I’ll probably just buy a new one (queuing to return things in my primark takes ALL DAY!) but when I looked yesterday there were none in a 10. arse. The top has this sort of ripped effect layer over the top, probably a but dull being black on black, but I do not have an abundance of long sleeved tops and…

In which I buy necklaces & make some festive decorations

Orelia – (topshop Oxford Circus ) £10 I saw this and had to have it. I Originally went in looking for a new GoGo Phillip necklace, but nothing on their stands jumped out at me, the current collection was mostly gold, and I much prefer silver. That said, this is a tiny gold chain, with three little hearts on it, gold, rose and silver coloured, It reminds me of my parents wedding rings, which were Russian rings (three interlocking rings with these three colours) Having looked at Orelias website, I’ve discovered that they are based in Brighton, so perhaps that part of the reason why I liked the necklace so much! I have a couple of bracelets that I bought at Topshop last year, and for such a low price…

In which I bake a Pie

My favourite meal to cook is Pie! Any kind of pie (apart from steak and kidney) will do, but my ‘come dine with me’ dish would be chicken & leek. The recipe is my own, and I probably never make it the same twice in a row, but here is how to do it! You need: 3 Chicken breasts, 3 Leeks, 1 onion, a small tub of cream, Half a bottle of white wine, a chicken stock cube & some herbs and spices, and some pastry (made, pre rolled or the add water variety!) Roughly chop your onions, leeks & cube your chicken, & heat your oil in a deep saucepan Brown the leeks & onions, then add the chicken. Once that’s cooked thoroughly reduce the heat and add…

In which I meet some bloggers

Last Saturday I travelled on the train to Southampton to meet some lovely lady bloggers. Southampton was absolutely packed, but it was a really nice festive atmosphere (I reckon the German Christmas market helped!) After some frantic tweeting we met up outside the shopping centre, and then headed away from the the mass of people to Hepwrights, a lovely vintage clothes shop with the nicest owner, Catherine.         The shop has an amazing array of clothes, from furs to fancy frocks, with jewellery shoes hats & bags (and a trumpet!) and each item had obviously been lovingly chosen, with playing cards used as price tags! (and the prices were reasonable, often in Brighton things are priced so ridiculously its a wonder people buy them!) The dress above is truly lovely,…
