The Konfidence BabyWarma Floatsuit

Athena has always been quite confident in the water at our local pool (she’s confident in most situations to be fair but is pretty unaware of potential dangers!) But when we visited the Blue Lagoon swimming centre at Bluestone on holiday a couple of weeks ago it was a much bigger pool, with a wave machine, lazy river and various other things to explore! Athena wore a Floatsuit from Konfidence. It is really well designed to help with buoyancy, and as your child gains confidence you can remove floats gradually to help with this. There are eight pockets on the suit that have floats in and are elasticated at the bottom for easy insertion/removal for washing. They are available for ages 1 to 5 in a variety of styles, and…

Arlo at 8 weeks & #WhatMyKidDid June

Arlo is going to be 9 weeks old tomorrow, insane! Here’s what’s been happening with him! [here’s his last update at 4 weeks] Sleeping: Not very much! we’ve now had a couple of stints of 4 hours but normally a maximum of three! He sleeps best when he’s being held or in the sling and in the last week or so and since his jabs last week he’s been a bit under the weather, and has been bringing up feeds more often than now! This has meant a lot of outfit changes for both he and I! Doing: In the last four weeks Arlo has become much more aware of us, and we’re getting smiles and coos and all sorts of funny noises! His sister and other children seem to…

Stuff on a Sunday #33

This week has flown by for some reason, and writing this on Saturday night I feel absolutely shattered! I had a nice lie in on Sunday, well ish… Sam took Athena to the car boot so I chilled with Arlo. In the afternoon we did a bit of a house tidy up and unpacked our new memory foam mattress! Like sleeping on a cloud! Bank Holiday Monday was a lazy morning (Sam was at work) and then a walk along the seafront to meet a friend at the park, which was HEAVING! Clearly THE thing to do on a sunny-ish bank holiday! Tuesday and Wednesday were nice-ish days, Athena was at nursery on Tuesday and my mum took her to Brighton on Wednesday so it was just Arlo & I, but…

Me & Mine – May 2015

I said at the start of the year that I wanted this blog to carry on being a journal of our lives, so for the first time here is a ‘Me & Mine’ post! All these photos are from our week at Bluestone, and we were lucky to have my friend Amy on hand to take them for us! Next month the tripod and remote may have to be put to use! Anyway, this was out second full month as a family of four, but I didn’t get my arse in gear in April and there was only a lame selfie of the four of us one sleep deprived morning I think!     Marshmallow face!

Breastfeeding: Expressing with Medela

As part of my role as a Medela Mum I was extremely lucky to be given both an electric and a manual pump to test out and to help with breastfeeding. With Athena I expressed rarely, partly because I didn’t really need to (Sam was working 5 nights a week then and I didn’t have an older child to spend time with!) and also because I had a second hand manual pump that made expressing pretty hard work! This time round I planned to wait until 6 weeks to start expressing regularly, so my milk production had a chance to level out. In fact I used the pump earlier than anticipated, 3 weeks post partum. I woke up with one boob in agony, and not for the nice-ish reason that I was engorged…

What my Kids wore #1: Giraffes and Dinosaurs

I love getting my babies dressed in nice outfits (though some days we stay in our PJs!) so I’m going to start documenting my favourite outfits in a weekly post (until I run out of outfits anyway!) The only positive to a newborn baby growing so fast is needing to get bigger clothes so often!     Athena wears: Giraffe Print playsuit from Bows & Arrows at Boots (via a charity shop!) Spotty grey and yellow tights – M&S (car boot sale, 10p bargain!)  Grey Converse (ebay!) Arlo wears: Dinosaur outfit from H&M (current season – £5.99) I absolutely love the little hat, he wears it most days in the sling to stop his head from getting cold/sunburnt dependent on the weather and seeing the little spikes on his head…

Mama Loves: Radley Changing Bag

Now I’m a mum I want more of two things, sleep and changing bags! The latest addition to my collection is this gorgeous Radley number in Cherry Blossom Print. Who doesn’t love a nosy into other peoples bags? These days the only bag I use is a changing bag, and this one has become my ‘Arlo Only’ bag, for when it’s just he and I! I find it easier to keep two separate bags, so I don’t end up carting all the Athena-additions (snacks, books, crayons, drinks etc) around when I don’t need them! So, here’s what’s in my ‘Arlo bag’ cloth nappies (and normally a couple of disposables just in case but I needed to re stock!) a change of clothes & a sun hat A muslin or two wipes…
