Bluestone – Activities

You could quite happily spend your time at Bluestone exploring the outside areas, the nature walks and the lakes but there is a lot more to do experience on top of that! (Read the first part of our Bluestone experience here if you missed it!) The Adventure Centre: soft play, mini golf, bouncy castle, Lego area, arcade games, separate kids play rooms like the Circus Room, wall climbing, rope swinging and loads more! There is also a lovely cafe that serves a buffet breakfast and snacks and drinks throughout the day. This is also where the crèche and kids activities happen. Characters: There are several characters for the kids to spot throughout the week at Bluestone, we inadvertently managed to see three in a row, the most surprising being a…

Baby Loves: Fisher Price Swing and Seat

Arlo has been chilling in style since the day he arrived home in a Fisher Price Take Along Swing & Seat chair, which is great to use as a chair for daytime naps (if I can persuade him to nap on his own rather than on me!) and perfect as a swing to keep him happy when I am playing with Athena or making dinner! It’s cleverly designed to be as portable as possible as it folds up fairly compactly and doesn’t require any power source as it is battery operated. Sam set it up for me as I was taking it easy post C-section and managed it without the manual so it must be fairly easy to set up, and is easy to use too! The control panel on…

Gift Ideas: The Baby Box Company

Before I had children I never really knew what to get as a gift for a new baby, and now I have children I don’t really have the luxury of time to browse for and buy nice gifts for new babies! Step up The Baby Box Company! They are a fairly new company who do the hard work for you, sourcing lovely items for babies along a range of themes, with a few different sized boxes to suit all budgets. They very sweetly sent Arlo a box so that we could see what they were all about! I chose the ‘Really Useful’ hamper in medium and here is what we got: A teddybear print cotton vest in size 0-3, a pair of Sock Ons, a Lamaze fish toy and an…

Style: Festival fashion

Festival fashion… okay so I’m not off to live it up in a field for four days, surviving off cider and hot dogs sadly. I am however off to Funk the Family festival which is happening of Saturday 30th at Hove Park (info is all here if you’re local!) So I’ve  been thinking about what I would wear if I was off to a ‘proper’ all weekend extravaganza… and let’s just imagine  I wouldn’t be hurtling after a toddler or needing to wear anything breastfeeding friendly! Floaty floral dresses – A festival staple right? Although the playsuit would be for the muddier days so that nice dresses don’t end up being muddy up to the knees! Both of these are from Miss Selfridge, who generally have at least six dresses…

Stuff on a Sunday #32

On Sunday we were up at the crack of dawn to go to the first car boot sale of the year! We arrived at 7am and spent a sunny three hours bargain hunting! We didn’t actually pick much up, I had Arlo in a sling so didn’t want to keep bending down to rifle through clothes, plus we don’t really need anything! We got Athena some books, toy cars and a gun! Oh and some salopettes for our holiday! After that we went to the park in the village where I grew up which was a nice little dip back in time for me! In the afternoon we did a food shop (bit of a nightmare with two in the trolley!) And went to another new park!   Monday seems…

My plans for family fitness

I mentioned a few weeks back that my husband Sam is on somewhat of a health kick. He’s calorie counting, eating less meat and more veg and exercising fairly regularly. It makes me feel bad that I’m fairly frequently found sat on the sofa munching my way through a packet of dark chocolate digestives slurping on a hot chocolate (with marshmallows). Now I’m 7 weeks post-partum I can start to exercise again so I’ve started to think about low impact exercises (after a C section you’re meant to avoid strenuous exercise for a while) that we can do as a family. Swimming! Although I’m going swimming with Arlo on Saturdays for his lessons there’s no actual swimming involved for me! So as a family we’re planning on trying to get…

Travel: Bluestone Wales

Last week we spent five lovely days at Bluestone in Wales. If you’re not familiar with them then think mountains, peacefulness, family friendly and lovely lodges and you’ll be half way there! I’ll freely admit that I was a little sceptical about what to expect from our ‘free range’ holiday at Bluestone. I’d read a few other blog reviews and thought perhaps people were seeing their holidays through rose tinted glasses as it was a review but now I’m home and starting to write this I really do think it’s an amazing place. I few people I got chatting to when I was there were on their second or third trips too, so it’s definitely a popular place! Upon arrival you check in via a drive through kiosk, which took…
