#GeniusJeans with George

George challenged me to create three looks with one hero item, on order to take a capsule wardrobe on holiday. Now we’re going to pretend I’m off on a child free holiday in the sun this summer, perhaps Crete or Rhodes… (I’m actually not going away at all this year sadly but a girl can dream!) I decided to go a bit out of my comfort zone for once and step away from my normal black jeans and chose an acid wash lilac high waisted pair from the surprisingly vast collection of Jeans from George at Asda. They’re incredibly comfy due to their stretchiness, and as someone who still has somewhat of a mum-tum the high waist means they don’t dig in around the old muffin top area! I will say…

Dreaming of Mid sleepers

I’ve written before about the fact that my children will have to share a room at some point in the not so distant future. It is a ‘double room’ but it’s by no means huge! We have thought about swapping rooms to give them more space but our bedroom has an ensuite bathroom with a shower in it and Sam needs to use it when he gets up for work early, plus I’m not sure giving two small children unfettered access to a bathroom all night is a great idea! So another idea I’ve got for their shared room is making the most of the vertical height with a mid sleeper, in the hopes that we can maximise the storage space underneath Athenas bed for clothes and toys to…

Trespass Rain coat

I have a love hate relationships with anything  waterproof. I love that I don’t get wet but generally hate how drab waterproof jackets can be! I also have a fairly small head so most hoods just flap around my ears for a bit and then blow off, meaning my head doesn’t stay dry! Until now I’ve avoided bad rain and stayed in when possible, but doing that for more than a day with two little people in a fairly small flat means that one or more of us will go crazy if that happens twice in a row as getting out is good for our sanity! Thankfully Trespass came to the rescue when they asked if I’d like to review one of their raincoats. I chose the Penrose jacket, after a…

A bedroom spruce up

It’s been a while since we did much in our bedroom, but the arrival of Arlo meant re-jigging it a little to fit him in! Well, he would fit in quite nicely but all the paraphernalia he needs doesn’t! Plus a change of bedroom is always fun, I used to spend days in my school summer holidays as a kid working out what would fit where and roping friends in to help me move it all around (and on one fateful weekend paint it lilac with a shrine wall to Leonardo DiCaprio) but these days I am a little less impulsive plus I have to share the room with Sam, so no shrines! Anyway, I’ve digressed… We had to make space for the bedside crib, and for a changing table…

Funk the Family Festival!

On Saturday we spent a glorious afternoon in Hove Park at Funk the Family Festival, which is a one day music festival that caters for all ages! We all had fun and were exhausted by the time we left (earlier than planned due to a non-napping toddler, but who can blame her as there was so much to see and explore!) We arrived at the bottom end of Hove park and followed the beat till we got to the entrance of the festival, where we were given a wristband each, and asked to write our phone number on Athena’s in case she got lost, which I thought was a great idea! We did a quick circuit so we knew what was what, then headed for the bar! Ciders in…

The Konfidence BabyWarma Floatsuit

Athena has always been quite confident in the water at our local pool (she’s confident in most situations to be fair but is pretty unaware of potential dangers!) But when we visited the Blue Lagoon swimming centre at Bluestone on holiday a couple of weeks ago it was a much bigger pool, with a wave machine, lazy river and various other things to explore! Athena wore a Floatsuit from Konfidence. It is really well designed to help with buoyancy, and as your child gains confidence you can remove floats gradually to help with this. There are eight pockets on the suit that have floats in and are elasticated at the bottom for easy insertion/removal for washing. They are available for ages 1 to 5 in a variety of styles, and…

Arlo at 8 weeks & #WhatMyKidDid June

Arlo is going to be 9 weeks old tomorrow, insane! Here’s what’s been happening with him! [here’s his last update at 4 weeks] Sleeping: Not very much! we’ve now had a couple of stints of 4 hours but normally a maximum of three! He sleeps best when he’s being held or in the sling and in the last week or so and since his jabs last week he’s been a bit under the weather, and has been bringing up feeds more often than now! This has meant a lot of outfit changes for both he and I! Doing: In the last four weeks Arlo has become much more aware of us, and we’re getting smiles and coos and all sorts of funny noises! His sister and other children seem to…
