In which I get festive!

A Christmas Day stroll… Brighton pavilion & pier. A little picture post of my Christmas. Midnight Mass – at the tallest parish church in England (built to the dimensions of the Ark, supposedly) There was huge fight at the end of the service, swearing and punches being thrown, this really common looking and very drunk clan of people were so out of order its untrue! A plate of pottery christmas shapes in a shop window on the way home (& me with not a scrap of makeup on due to…

In which I Suffer (and wear shorts)

Shorts – Primark Top – Topshop Cardigan – Peacocks Wooly headband – Primark Normally I change the buttons on anything from primark, but these are little bows, which I approve of, they did however come with braces, which I didn’t approve of, they were attached at the front, and buttoned at the back, they got snipped off sharpish! (excuse slippers!)   Wore this earlier in the week for a Christmas Drink with my old flatmate. These shorts are in a size eight. I am not a size eight, so if…

In which I buy an unsuitable jacket

Jacket –  H by henry Holland (website) Dress – Rare via ASOS Lace body – Primark Leggings – topshop midget section shoes – primark? maybe (I know they don’t really go but I have hardly any shoes that fit anymore due to the great shoe size shrinkage of 2011) scarf – camden somewhere or other   The dress has pockets (LOVE dresses with pockets) and tiny gold stud detailing round the neckline and pockets, and a tie at the back. I’ve lost weight since I got this so the top…

In which I show you recent clothes purchases

Just a couple of things I’ve bought over the last few weeks, I *think* I’ve decided to go on a no clothes/makeup/books spending ban from Jan 1st for three months. I spend the most money on these things, and I have SO MANY clothes and a shit tonne of make  up so I can clearly manage until then, and whatever I have left at the end of each month goes into the wedding fund (and a trip to Frankfurt in January!) It’ll be good for rediscovering things I forgot I…

In which I make Eggnog

I’d never tried eggnog before I made it, partly because I am normally a bah humbug, and partly because I am lactose intolerant. However, I decided I wanted to try it, couldn’t find it anywhere ready made (because we’re not in America, obviously) so decided to make a little batch to see if I liked it. I did, although my stomach hated me for it. You Will Need: 2 Pints of milk, 6 eggs, 50g caster sugar, 3 tbsp Vanilla essence (whoops, not in the picture!) cinnamon sticks, optional: brandy,…

In which I make Christmas Cookies

I used to be a BIG biscuit eater (as in i was bigger and I ate a lot of biscuits) In the last year or so I’ve managed to cut down the old biscuit intake, which was hard at first but it gets easier I tell you! (jaffa cakes and malted chocolate biscuits were my favs!)      Seeing as its almost Christmas and all that jazz, I thought I’d make my own biscuits, these are fairly easy to make and yummy!     Ingredients for biscuits: 100g of butter (softened) 100g…

In which I make mulled Cider

I love cider, love love love it. I love mulled cider even more, WARM SPICY version of normal favourite drink? WINNER! I must admit I cheated slightly, as I used the mulled wine sachets (schwartz). I used a pot on the hob this time, but last year I made it in the slow cooker, and the smell penetrated through the house You will need: Cider (any variety!) Apple juice (clear or cloudy), Oranges & Lemons, cloves, cinnamon, and maybe some sugar Simmer your cider over a low heat, add the…

In which I go to a Christmas Party (outfit & face of the day)

My Works xmas do was on Monday & as I worked at 8am the next day (unlike a few other people who didn’t even make it in!) I didn’t have a huge amount to drink (alcohol doesn’t really agree with me anyway!) and was in bed by 1am! Still felt rough at getting up time but it could’ve been worse! The evening was fairly eventful, bitch fights, someone who went home wasted before we even got the secret santa out of the way, a concussion and A&E visit, people revealing…

In which I go to Brick Lane

After the excitement of Saturdays blogger meet up, you’d think I’d do my normal Sunday routine, which consists of tea, the sofa and the boy if we’re both off work together. I sometimes stretch to a stroll or lunch out, but recently its been so cold that I’m hibernating.  Sunday just gone I met the beautiful Ayden, and her friend Katrina, who were down from Scotland for a little getaway. We had literally 45 minutes for a quick pot of tea before I power walked to the train station to…

In which I go shopping & snooping (Outfit)

Snakeskin print skirt – Primarni Boots – George @ asda (detail in this post) Black long sleeve layered top – Topshop (last year) Scarf – Brightons North Laine sunday market Warning, if you buy this skirt check the elastic in the waist band out! Mine was obviously dodgily stitched and came apart after the first wear, I was going to take it back and exchange it but for £4 I’ll probably just buy a new one (queuing to return things in my primark takes ALL DAY!) but when I looked…

In which I buy necklaces & make some festive decorations

Orelia – (topshop Oxford Circus ) £10 I saw this and had to have it. I Originally went in looking for a new GoGo Phillip necklace, but nothing on their stands jumped out at me, the current collection was mostly gold, and I much prefer silver. That said, this is a tiny gold chain, with three little hearts on it, gold, rose and silver coloured, It reminds me of my parents wedding rings, which were Russian rings (three interlocking rings with these three colours) Having looked at Orelias website,…

In which I bake a Pie

My favourite meal to cook is Pie! Any kind of pie (apart from steak and kidney) will do, but my ‘come dine with me’ dish would be chicken & leek. The recipe is my own, and I probably never make it the same twice in a row, but here is how to do it! You need: 3 Chicken breasts, 3 Leeks, 1 onion, a small tub of cream, Half a bottle of white wine, a chicken stock cube & some herbs and spices, and some pastry (made, pre rolled…
