We’re a family that try and get outside often, despite the often miserable weather! The kids really couldn’t care less if it is wet or windy and will often end up with blue lips and need to be reminded to come and warm up! Sam and I however actually do feel the cold and the wet, and unless I am toasty and dry I tend not be much of a ‘fun mum’! I really couldn’t care less if it is wet or windy and will often end up with blue lips and need to be reminded to come and warm up! I actually do feel the cold and the wet, and unless I am toasty and dry I tend not be much of a ‘fun mum’ and all I can think about is when I can get a warm cup of tea and find somewhere cosy to warm up!
Sam’s the same too, especially with being damp, but being a larger guy (he’s 6’5) jackets tend to be too short or not do up, neither of which are great when you want to stay warm and dry! So for pretty much as long as I’ve known him he’s not had an actual waterproof coat, making do with leather jackets and hoodies that aren’t waterproof! However Marine Superstore has saved the day with the ‘Corporate Sail Jacket’ from Henri Lloyd, and it has come in so handy during the wet and snowy season we are (hopefully!) coming out of now!
The jacket Sam chose from the vast selection on the Marine Superstore website is 100% waterproof and windproof with fully sealed seams, so perfect for windy weather as it doesn’t let draughts it! The hood is rolled into a water resistant zipped compartment when it’s not in use, and has easy to adjust cords to keep it snug when it is raining. The main zip and pocket zips are non-corrosive so should withstand pretty much any weather you can fling at it! An internal pocket, sleeve pocket and regular side pockets mean he has plenty of places to store his essentials and all the bits and bobs the kids pick up and insist we take home, pine cones, interesting pebbles, twigs and leaves… we always just hope that they forget what they asked us to carry by the time we get home so that we don’t have to have half the woodland in our house!
It’s smart enough looking to wear to pretty much any occasion too, with the subtle reflective piped trim and dark logos. The lining around the collar is super soft and fleecy so it’s comfortable even with the collar zipped all the way up to the top!
I took these photos on a stomp around Arundel a couple of weeks ago, but Sam’s worn it every day since he got it and says ‘it’s amazing’, which is why I am writing the review… he’s just not that wordy! He also said that he likes that it is light weight enough to layer a thick jumper under when it’s really chilly, but breathable so you don’t get too hot.
