Getting Arty with the smART Sketcher Projector!

At the moment Athena is definitely more ‘arty’ than she is scholarly, although I know that may change as she gets older! At the moment if you give her a choice of practising reading or doing something with colours and paper she’ll always choose the latter. The smART Sketcher has made her even more keen on drawing now as she is able to draw absolutely anything she wants without frustration! It’s a clever projector that hooks up to an app on your phone, and it has a few different ways to use it: Step by Step Drawing This function lets you choose from lots of different pictures, from animals to transport and lots in between, and starts with simple line drawings that Athena traces over, presses the next button to…

Reviews: Crate Creatures Toys – interactive monsters!

You know that feeling of six long weeks stretching ahead of you, full of 6am wake up calls from a noisy and energetic three year old? Well that feeling was making me feel a little bit on edge a couple of weeks ago, but thankfully due to a well timed delivery of something fun for Arlo to play with he’s being kept pretty busy with not that much input from me, as he’s been playing with his new Crate Creature so much it’s like having a third child! These interactive monsters come ensconced in their own crate, locked up with a (plastic) padlock and chain! You first have to work out how to get the creature out, and then learn how to play with him! Arlo was sent ‘Pudge’ who…

What the kids wore: Bobux Kid+ Sandals

I’ve been a big fan of Bobux shoes for the kids ever since they started walking, originally working with them through blogging, but I have also purchased them too, plus been a big advocate when other mum’s ask about the best footwear for kids. We are lucky enough to be working with them again this spring and the kids were over the moon to be able to choose a new pair of sandals each! Things I love about Bobux: Durable Natural Materials Designed to perfectly support development of little feet Podiatrist approved Huge variety of designs, both modern and classic. Now the sun seems to have made a proper appearance I envision a lot of afternoons at the park after school and weekends at the beach as it is so…

What Athena Wore in Bluebell Woods

It’s finally bluebell season! Last Saturday we took a late afternoon stroll around the bluebells in Angmering Park estate. It’s always an a stunning sight to behold, and each year they never fail to amaze me with their colours, and Athena has a new dress and necklace that she was more than happy to show off!   Her dress is from La Coqueta, a Spanish company who make children’s clothes up to age ten, in classic styles and patterns. They’re proper little people clothes, with classic timeless designs and I love everything! There are no outrageous colours, naff characters or skimpy styles, instead you have subtle lace, frills and gorgeous fabrics to choose from. Athena picked the Allamanda dress, which is lined Summer dress made from 100% cotton. A bib…

A Disney Vampirina Boo-tiful dress

Athena discovered Vampirina a few months ago, and it’s definitely in her top 5 favourite TV shows at the moment, and it’s also one that the kids will happily watch together, despite the main character being a girl (Arlo is a very typical just turned 3 year old boy, despite us trying to get him to like or even just appreciate everything he is very firmly of the ‘boys are better’ opinion right now!) Anyway, the show is about a little Vampire who moves to a new town as her family opening a B&B for ghouls and ghosts and the like! It follows her story as she starts a new school and makes new friends. For the eagle-eared parent you may spot two well known voices as her parents as…

Arlo’s Dream Horse with Petplan Equine

I spent most of my primary school summer holidays (and Easter and Christmas!) riding ponies, and I loved it! My dad had a small farm in Wales and we had two ponies, Misty and Frosty, but I also spent a lot of time at the local riding stables helping out, going on hacks on the mountains and helping out on the farm. It saddens me a bit now that I can only remember the name of two of the horses, Magic who was a smaller pony (who I am jumping on in the photo below) and Oliver who was an ex-police horse, and had feet the size of dinner plates! Sadly the cost of keeping a horse was way too expensive for us on the south coast, so I’ve not…

Review: Barbie Styling Head Flip & Reveal

If there is one thing I can guarantee a resounding YES to, it’s asking Athena if she wants to play with my hair. Unfortunately for her I find people playing with my hair supremely irritating, but now she can brush, plait and pull to her hearts content with her new Barbie Styling Head. The little girl in me is pretty jealous, as I never had this sort of toy when I was little, and desperately wanted one, it was always the first toy I made a beeline for at friends houses when I went on playdates. So when Athena opened up the box and squeaked with delight I knew how excited she was, and the inner kid in me was a little jealous! Barbie Styling Head comes with practically a…
