Interiors: 4 Benefits of Minimalism

Everyone has their own style. This also translates to the fact that everyone has their own tastes for decors and decorating. It’s important to know that whatever you love the most, and however you and your partner’s tastes can meet is often the best way to move forward. However, sometimes, our tastes aren’t that good. We might invest effort to make a home just how we like it, and then realize it looks cluttered, cramped, strange, conflicted or uncomfortable. This isn’t to immediately paint you with a brush and tell you to reconsider your confidence in decorating. Quite the opposite. Sometimes, finding inspiration in that around us can help us find a home-style we actually really enjoy, that can help you refine your tastes and in the end, enjoy…

Style: Festival Fashion for Mums

We are off to not one but TWO festivals this Summer, and I can’t wait! You’ll find us dancing around at Chilled in a Field festival for the first August Bank Holiday, and then we’ll be at The Big Feastival on the second bank holiday! I’m already planning what to pack and what to wear and feel like glitter needs to make an appearance! I’ve been scouring the internet (as it’s basically the only place I shop now) for things we can wear and there are loads of festival fashion savings at Groupon. This selection is from Pretty Little Thing, and I think they’re all things I can get away with, bearing in mind I’m in my 30’s and will have my children trailing after me, and a sequined bikini top and…

Interiors: How To Create A Cosy Lounge

Image source   Of all the rooms in your home, which will be your favorite? Some will say the kitchen, some will always choose their bedroom, but it’s safe to say that your living room is always going to be a high contender. Your living space is always where you’re able to relax and unwind in the evenings. It’s where you can spend lazy days. And it’s always where you can enjoy some quality time with your partner or your family. So, you’re always going to want to make sure that this room is as cozy as possible. But how are you going to do it? When you have a set design theme running through your home, you won’t always want to go too homely with your living room just…

Interiors: Living Room Storage + Mirrors

Since we redecorated the living room I’ve been on the hunt for more storage and a few other bits, so we can get rid of the units that don’t go with the new decor. Currently we have a large pile of wicker crates full of toys and other bits in a little alcove under a window, and I really want to find a unit to fit in there nicely as it’s too small to put an arm chair or anything there but is wasted space if we don’t use it, but the current wicker crates look messy! I’m thinking a low side table with storage would work well, as we could always use it as a an extra table in the evenings closer to the sofas for drinks and things!…

Does where you live influence how you style your home?

Before we bought this house I’d lived in a variety of rented homes, all decorated in varying degrees of ‘niceness’… A Studio flat above the pub I worked at: yellow walls with a terracotta feature wall round the original 60’s fireplace. Oh, and green swirly pub carpet left overs. At least I didn’t have to pay rent! A new build town house in Brighton – gorgeously magnolia from top to bottom and they were just finishing laying the cream carpets as we moved in! But we weren’t allowed to do a thing to it, so magnolia and personality free it stayed. A poky flat in Brighton North Laine opposite a comedy club – amazing location but the walls were so wonky that you couldn’t even think of putting shelves up,…

Interior Tips for getting more sleep out of your Bedroom

Photo by Ali Inay on Unsplash Don’t lose sleep over a badly designed bedroom. Here are just a few décor tricks that could help to improve your sleep quality. Choose the right bed A comfortable bed is essential. The size can play a major part – if you’re tall, you may want to consider extra large beds and mattresses so that you don’t feel your feet are sticking out the end. The material of your bedding is also important to consider. Silk sheets can be better for people that easily get hot in the night as they’re able to stay cool longer than cotton sheets. When it comes to mattresses, some people may prefer a firm spring mattress, whilst others may prefer a soft memory foam mattress. Take time to find the right…

Date Night to see Hamilton the Musical!

Last Monday Sam and I spent our second ever night away from the kids together, we went to London to see Hamilton the Musical! It was something Sam had wanted to see for absolutely ages and we managed to get tickets right at the start of the year, and then a couple of weeks ago we realised that the date was for a Bank Holiday Monday and the trains were all messed up so to risk not being stranded somewhere we asked my mum to stay over and get the kids to school in the morning and booked ourselves a hotel! We had a leisurely dinner and cocktails sat outside on a sunny terrace before heading to the Theatre, looking pretty smart if I do say so myself! When I…
