Arlo and I are fast approaching our ‘golden boobs’ award, that’s a year for the uninitiated. It’s true that your boobs change as your breastfeeding journey continues and mine have now shrunk a little compared to what they were in the first few months. All but one of my nursing bras were used when I was feeding Athena so when Hot Milk got in touch to see if I’d like to pick a bra from their new range I couldn’t turn down the opportunity to get a nice new bra in the right size!
I’m one of those women who feels better when they’re wearing nice underwear, even though it’s not on show I know it’s there. However I’ve definitely let that slip since becoming a mum and tend to go for comfort and function over style. However hot milk sell a range of really pretty but very functional nursing bras. The ‘Chic’ style bra that I picked is fuchsia with purple lace overlay and slightly ruched straps that I don’t mind peeping out from a top! It has a three hook fastening and has six rows to to get the perfect fit as you grow or shrink!
An A-frame cup ensures that you have decent coverage when feeding as the top part of your boob remains covered by material but the gap leaves plenty of space for your baby to get a good latch. The plastic clip is easy to undo and re-secure with one hand. This style isn’t padded but is structured enough to give shape and support and is fully lined with cotton. I also have an older Hot Milk bra that has a slightly padded cup and that has lasted incredibly well as I’ve been wearing it on and off since Athena arrived in 2013! Thankfully it doesn’t look like Arlo has any plans to stop breastfeeding so this one will be worn for a while yet I think!
There are of course matching knickers to go with them, and I’m going to treat myself to a pair when I get my first post-mat leave pay cheque! Keep up to date with them on twitter & Facebook.
I was sent a bra for the purpose of this review, all words and opinions are my own.
