Lily’s driftwood bay is a kids TV program that Athena only discovered a few months back on Netflix, though it is available on milkshake on channel 5 too. It’s a really sweet program about Lily and her dad who live in a deserted bay in a little beach hut. She collects treasure instead of playing with toys and has a talking seagull chum. When she finds the washed up ‘treasure’ she wonders what it is, and then gets transported to Driftwood bay where Salty Dog lives (all in her imagination of course!) to find out more about it. There are 52 episodes to watch, and its got a gorgeous folky soundtrack and stunning visuals, all made from things washed up at sea!
Athena and Arlo were sent a talking Lily and Salty Dog toy to play with, they’re the perfect size for taking out and about as they can easily be carried in one hand. they’ve got little buttons inside and when squeezed they say some common phrases from the show, including Lily’s signature giggle and Salty Dog’s ‘All aboard for Driftwood Bay’. They’re both a really good likeness of the tv characters, and Athena recognised them as soon as I took them out of their wrapping!
They’re both available from Argos with an rrp of £9.99 but currently on sale at £7.99 at the time of writing. There is also a larger Lily with Gull, who also talks and is poseable too.
We were sent these toys in exchange for a review, all words and opinions are my own.
