Why we want to go to Airbourne in Eastbourne

eastbourne airshowWith a dad that was a pilot Sam has always been interested in planes and things that fly, add Athena to the mix who loves to point out planes and helicopters whenever they fly past overhead, and Arlo who just loves looking at new and exciting things and we’re a fairly plane-enthusiastic family. We live close to Brighton & Hove airport (or Shoreham Airport as everyone else refers to it!) so quite often we’ll go and have lunch or a drink at their restaurant and watch all the planes landing and taking off, plus a helicopter or two if we’re lucky! Eastbourne is the next closest airport and the Airbourne Show is meant to be spectacular, though we’ve never managed to get to it but we’re planning on it this year!

The amazing thing about the Airbourne is that there is SO much to do, watch and experience. Here’s the top 5 things I want to see over the long weekend; August, 11th – 14th.

1 – The Tri- Service exhibition. A chance for Athena and Arlo to see people and vehicles from The Royal Air Force, Royal Navy, Royal Marines and British Army. They can sit in helicopter cockpits and get to see a tank up close

2 – The Red Arrows. You cannot compare any other stunt team to the Red Arrows and I have never seen them live before! They’re there on the Friday and the Saturday too so two opportunities to see them!

3- Kids Fun Beaches packed with bouncy castles, obstacle courses and trampolines, I know my two love this sort of thing, as do I to be honest!

4 – Top Gear Simulator, experience the break neck speeds of some of the most exhilarating driving, all without having to risk life and limb!

5 – Airbourne Sunday Finale, bands playing live on stage into the evening with an amazing Fireworks display to finish it all off!
