Win with Ecover [ended]

Ecover is a brand I’ve been aware of for a long time, both my mum and step mum have always used Ecover products in the kitchen, and for  laundry and I now use Ecover powder to wash my baby carriers and woven wraps as it is so gentle! New on shelves this October is the limited edition Ocean Plastic washing-up liquid bottle from Ecover, which is available exclusively in Waitrose. The bottle is made from fully recycled plastic, with 10% coming from ocean plastic.

Ocean Bottle Ecover

This year Ecover has used 10,000 plastic bottles collected from canals in Amsterdam to create this exciting new design.  These bottles, on their way to pollute the North Sea, have instead been used to create 78,000 washing-up liquid bottles, a huge increase of over four times compared to the 17,000 bottles made last year.  Over the last two years, Ecover has used 2.5 tonnes of ocean plastic, which instead could have stayed polluting the water.

By 2025, 250 million metric tons of plastic will be polluting the ocean unless action is taken. This rubbish comes from plastic being discarded in streets, on beaches and in rivers and waterways, such as Amsterdam’s canals.  This waste has a devastating impact on marine life and on humans as once this plastic has entered the water it will stay in the environment indefinitely.

To raise further awareness, in March 2015, Ecover and Plastic Whale launched a boat made out of 10,000 recycled plastic bottles found in canals in Amsterdam. Since then they have taken out volunteers for plastic fishing trips to collect enough plastic to create the bottles.

To help raise awareness of the project and new bottle Ecover are giving away a bundle of Ecover products including some Klean Kanteen flasks!
