#AsdaMeatUp & Apple and Cheddar burger recipe

So I probably win the award for the latest post about the most amazing Thursday night I’ve had in a long time, the #AsdaMeatup a few weeks back to celebrate National Burger Day with a BBQ courtesy of Asda.

A big yellow bus (okay, two as there were so many of us) chugged us all up the hill and out of town to a fantastic party house stuffed full pimms, burgers and a Jazz band. I actually haven’t seen so many Brighton bloggers in one place so it was a pretty awesome evening just for the meeting and chatting that went on, so big Kudos to Shaun for picking Brighton for the knees up!

Menu and Chef

I may have overdone it on the pimms slightly, so that I was a bit on the go slow when it came to getting in line for the burgers, which were being lovingly prepared and barbecued for us by some snazzy chefs out on the patio and I only managed to nab one burger! I did however get two servings of Eton Mess so I call that a success! Dropping potato salad all down Arlo’s leg possibly not a success but he was asleep so I’m sure he didn’t mind. In fact he was pretty well behaved all night actually!

We were asked what our favourite burger recipe is, and although I’ve not made this one in a while this is mine:

Apple & Cheddar Burgers

Ingredients:

1lb ground beef, 1 large red onion finely chopped, 2ounces cheddar cheese grated

1tablespoon Dijon mustard, 1⁄2teaspoon salt, 1⁄4teaspoon ground black pepper &

1 large granny smith apple, shredded and peeled.

How to make: Mix it all together in a large bowl, then form into balls (4ish) and then squish flat into burger shapes.

How to cook: BBQ, obviously!

Serve: With a large slice of cheese and lots of relish in a bun (Brioche if you’re being posh)

So a mega huge thankyou to Asda for schlepping us all to the party house, giving us endless pimms and gin and elderflower cocktails (okay, three in my case!) and for letting me bring the small person with me too, I am so glad I didn’t miss out on the fun!

Here are a few posts about the event from fellow bloggers:

  1. It was a lovely night, and it was nice to see you! Arlo really was very well behaved!

Your burger recipe sounds yum so I may have to give it a go 🙂 x

  2. Apple in a burger? That sounds interesting! I’ll give it a go maybe next weekend for one of the last summer barbecues. Thank you and pinned 🙂
